Brief: Topical Graphics I designed for on-air broadcast news reports.
• Media companies including the New York Times, Twitter and the Huffington Post lost control of some of their websites after hackers supporting the Syrian government breached the Australian Internet company that manages many major site addresses. The Syrian Electronic Army, a hacker group that has attacked media organizations it considers hostile to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, claimed credit for the Twitter and Huffington Post hacks in a series of Twitter messages.
• Graphic for one of the largest nationwide strike by fast-food workers ever, according to organizers, one that will hit McDonald's, Taco Bell and Wendy's demanding higher $15 an hour pay, about double what they make now. The nationwide strike comes amid calls from the White House, members of Congress and economists to hike the federal minimum wage, which was last raised in 2009, but to a more modest $9 an hour.
